Three games in the last week yielded 20 goals with the disappointing FA Cup exit against City followed by two Premiership thrillers - a 4-3 win against Portsmouth and last night's 4-2 victory at Charlton.
The success at the Valley made it five wins in our last six Premiership outings.
Gus, who scored the winner against Pompey on Saturday, said: "I think it's gone well after what happened against Manchester City. It's been a difficult time but we've been talking a lot and trying to keep the critics quiet.
"No-one at White Hart Lane, not even the biggest Spurs supporter, would have been thinking about winning against Portsmouth after it went to 3-3, but we did.
"Now we've gone to Charlton and won again. They beat us at home and the Valley is a difficult place to go but the level of the performance was very high, especially in the first half.
"It was hard to take what happened against City and I'm sure everyone would have taken these results after that.
"We have to be happy about the last two games. I know it's hard during the game but it would be lovely to win games like that every week!"
Gus Poyet has saluted the character of the side after an amazing last seven days.
