The Portuguese striker hit the net just five minutes after coming on at half-time against the Conference outfit, but concedes that he still needs some time to adapt to the game and his new teammates.
Speaking through his part-time interpreter Mauricio Taricco, Helder said: "I am pleased to score in my first game, but I need to adapt a little bit and get to know the players around me.
"I am surprised that so many people came to see the game - I saw the opportunity to score and I am happy that I took it."
A priority for the 20-year-old is to learn the language but, in the meantime, he is glad to call on the services of a few new friends.
"I am very happy to be here and I am enjoying it. I am happy also because there are three or four players like Gus, Christian and Tano who speak the language a little bit.
"It makes it a little easier for me to settle in - it helps me.
"Every day I am trying to speak a little bit more in English and I am going to get a teacher to help me further."
Helder Postiga was all smiles as he reflected on his almost immediate impact after his introduction to English football against Stevenage Borough.
