Jamie Redknapp feels that Helder Postiga now has a real chance to secure a first team spot following his goal against Liverpool on Saturday.
The Portuguese internation stepped in for the absent Fredi Kanoute and immediately set about making the most of the opportunity to impress. He was rewarded for his efforts when he latched on to a superb long ball from Johnnie Jackson that dissected the Reds' rearguard to double our lead on 53 minutes.
Jamie points out that Postie seizing his chance in such style is typical of what makes football a special game.
"That is why this is an amazing game," said Jamie. "Fredi goes away and Postie comes in and scores a goal. That is the beauty of this game, he might have felt he wasn't getting a look in then, all of a sudden, he is back in against Liverpool and scores the winning goal.
"He now has a real chance to go and stake a claim now, because that is how football is."
