Just as in the previous round when Bobby Zamora netted his first against West Ham, it was a Carling Cup tie that got Helder off the mark at the Lane. It was a sizzling cup tie from start to finish, one made all the more memorable for the Portuguese international's unrestrained joy over breaking his duck.
The 21-year-old was in philosophical mode afterwards and simply pointed out that, while he was happy to score, he was happier with the win.
"It is a special goal for Tottenham firstly and it was important for us to win," reflected Helder. "It was my first goal, it was important to me and it will give me more confidence in my next game."
Helder went on to claim that the goal did not signal a lifting of pressure from his shoulders.
"No, no, no - it was just good for me, but more important to Tottenham. We needed to win because our form at home has not been too good and we need more good results," he added, before reserving a special mention for the fans who have supported him since his arrival.
"Oh, fantastic. The supporters of Tottenham have been fantastic to me. I have waited some time for my first goal and it has been special for me when they have called my name."
Helder Postiga once again insisted that the team comes first after registering his first competitive goal for the club against Manchester City on Wednesday evening.
