The acting boss was responding in his post-match press briefing and pointed out that, for a young player, Helder is adapting well to the hurly burly of the Premiership and will get better and better with time.
"He did some very good things and like all strikers he needed a goal," replied David. "I thought he delayed with a couple of opportunities he had in the first period, but he did some good things as well in the game.
"At the moment it is still his spot. He is in his first year here and he is 20 years old - someone of that age who can stand up in the Premiership is on the right tracks.
"Like Newcastle's Vianna and Ronaldo at Manchester United, these boys need time to settle, get into the pace of the game and get to know the opponents they come up against.
"Our forward play has been quite bright in the last couple of games."
