“Paul has demonstrated great loyalty to the Club and is a prime example of the new spirit we have in this young squad.
“I know our fans have had a lot to read in the newspapers over the last few days, but they shouldn’t wonder about our determination to continue the good start we made last season.
“Also a lot of rubbish has been written about my wanting to do both roles at the Club, if Frank does leave. It’s a nonsense — the reason I can make a difference at our Club is because I can focus on coaching this squad and getting great results with them. If Frank does leave us then the Club will have to find a new Sporting Director. The Chairman and I have spoken about this situation and it is something that he will take time with, to get the right person, someone who will work well with all of us. The structure works well so we would be mad to change it.
“You know, sometimes things like this make you stronger and even more determined to succeed. I know that will be the case with us.”
Martin Jol added his delight to the news released yesterday that Paul Robinson would be signing a new long-term contract with the Club and looks ahead.
