The Dutch champions impressed as goals from Ji-Sung Park and Arjen Robben secured a 2-0 friendly win at White Hart Lane.
Chances were few and far between for Helder Postiga on his Lane debut and injuries to Simon Davies and Darren Anderton clouded the afternoon further.
However, there were positives in the shape of youngsters Rohan Ricketts (pictured left), who looked sharp in a 50-minute stint and Dean Marney.
"It was a tough game for us," stated Glenn afterwards. "It was very hot out there and we had to do a lot of chasing.
"They are a good side and played their strongest team. We couldn't do that but it was a good run out and certainly fitness-wise, in heat like that, our fitness levels will come on leaps and bounds.
"Football-wise we can play better but we had to change our shape this morning with Matthew (Etherington) being involved in a possible deal and it was all a bit disjointed to be honest.
"But it was a good run out and although we lost, it's pre-season and we can learn from it.
"Rohan Ricketts came on, Dean Marney, they've had that experience and Helder Postiga has played his first game at White Hart Lane. They will all be better for it."
Glenn Hoddle believes the lads will be better for Sunday's tough work out against PSV Eindhoven.
