Posh spice up friendlies

English Barclays Premiership

Simon Davies and Matthew Etherington will go back to their roots in August. In a hectic pre-season schedule, we travel to promoted Peterborough United’s London Road on Tuesday, August 8.

George Graham snapped up midfielder Davies and winger Etherington in a £1.2m swoop in January. Both were huge hits and broke into the first team by April. Eight first-team friendlies are planned in the countdown to the Premiership season which kicks-off on Saturday, August 19.

It all starts with a tour to Sweden, where we will take on Byske in our first friendly on Wednesday, July 19 before travelling to Finnish outfit Uleaborg on Saturday, July 22 before returning to Sweden and Boden on Monday, July 24.

Fans will get the first chance to see big summer capture Sergei Rebrov in action at Birmingham City on Saturday, July 29. We are back in the capital and a trip to Fulham’s Craven Cottage on Wednesday, August 2 before turning out for Danny Maddix’s testimonial at QPR on Saturday, August 5.

Barry Fry’s Posh are next on Tuesday, August 8 and one more friendly, opposition to be arranged, is scheduled for Saturday, August 12.
