Development coach Clive said: “The result was very disappointing but the performance was better than we’ve had perhaps in the last couple of games, as we controlled the game.
“Fulham were a young energetic side but we created a number of chances and were disappointed not to take those because I think we would have run out comfortable victors had we converted one.
“But then disaster struck right at the end when we conceded a poor goal. Up until that point I didn’t feel they had created much, so it was frustrating from that respect.
“But there were lots of positives, most notably the return to action of Ledley King and Ricardo Rocha who both looked very good, that was a massive boost for everyone.
“Jamie O’Hara was also back with the team and I thought on the evening he was absolutely outstanding. There’s no doubt that the loan period at Millwall and the league football he has experienced has helped him mature, he looked very strong, commanding and turned in a first class performance.
“Young Andros Townsend came in from the Academy for his first start for us, which will do his confidence the world of good and he showed what he is capable of playing up against Moritz Volz, an international and normally a Premier League full-back. It was a great test for Andros and superb experience for him.”
Clive Allen refused to be down-beat after our unfortunate 1-0 reserve defeat at the hands of Fulham on Tuesday night.Ismael Ehui’s last gasp strike took the gloss of what Clive feels was a performance full of positives.
