Jermain Defoe grabbed most of the headlines with his livewire display for England in the 1-0 friendly defeat against Sweden.
Anthony Gardner did little wrong as a second half substitute in that game while on the Irish front, Gary Doherty was solid as a rock in defence and hit the woodwork in Ireland's 2-1 win against the Czech Republic and Robbie Keane scored the last-minute winner. Stephen Kelly also made it into the senior squad for the first time.
First-year Academy players Phil Ifil and Jamie O'Hara, who have made their mark at reserve level this season, also played for England U20 and U19s respectively.
"We're delighted that particularly the two English boys did well and Jermain made such an impression - it's reported in several papers this morning that he's line for a possible place in Euro 2004," said David before taking training this afternoon.
"Anthony Gardner also did well, didn't give the ball away, played constructively from centre-back and although Ledley King had to miss out, we now have three young players in and around the England group, which is terrific.
"Gary Doherty did very well, Steve Carr put club before country and irrepressible Robbie Keane scored a wonderful goal at just the right time to win the game and make sure fans don't leave Lansdowne Road in future matches.
"You could say there is a lot of pride. A pride in not just the more experienced internationals but the younger element playing international games.
"Phil Ifil played a very successful game for England and lower down, Jamie O'Hara played for England U19s at Northampton.
"This pleases me. This nucleus of players with the right type of experience who have got enough legs and enough nous will be the players who make Tottenham very good again."
