Pleat pitches in

Posted on 25 November 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

David Pleat has joined referee Jeff Winter in praising Sunday's playing surface - one that withstood some 36 hours of torrential rain before the game.

Winter, commenting here on the official site, went as far as to say it was the best pitch he has officiated on this season and paid tribute to the groundstaff. David was quick to add his praise for the work of grounds manager Darren Baldwin and his team.

"Absolutely, it would have stood out more if there were more games scheduled on the day - I think other games would have been called off," said David.

"The pitch drained well, the groundstaff worked tremendously hard and it is a tribute to the work they do because it was a terrific surface."
