Striker Les Ferdinand is at the centre of two stories with the Sunday People claiming we turned down a £1m bid for the striker from Glasgow Rangers. The People say the Ibrox outfit came in for Ferdinand after John Hartson failed a medical last week.
The News Of The World also suggest that Birmingham City are after Ferdinand, pictured right, with boss Trevor Francis lining-up a £1m bid.
Meanwhile the Sunday Mirror claim Juventus are preparing a £20m bid for our skipper Sol Campbell. Big Sol has only a year left on his current contract and can open negotiations with clubs via the Bosman ruling in January. We have said all along that we want to keep him at the Lane.
We are also linked with Watford's Tommy Smith and Colchester striker Lomana Tresor Lua Lua in the Sunday press.
But Pleat insisted on Sunday morning: "There is no substance what so ever in all these transfer speculation stories. They are simply not true."
Our director of football David Pleat has poured cold water on a host of rumours in Sunday's newspapers.
