Pleat on Jeffers reports

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

David Pleat has confirmed that we did make an inquiry for Everton striker Francis Jeffers, but were not alone.

"We are going to be completely open and frank about transfers," said David. "We did make an inquiry about Jeffers, but other clubs did too."

The 20-year-old starlet recently delayed new contract talks at Goodison Park, sparking speculation that he could be ready for a new challenge.

He is currently injured, but is expected to be fit for Everton’s next Premiership outing against West Ham at Upton Park.

Reports earlier quoted David as saying: "Everton were going to come back to us, but the player picked up an injury so we did not make a bid."

On the subject of Paris Saint Germain defender Sylvain Distin, David added: "I can confirm that, while George liked the player, we did not make an offer for him."
