Leigh Mills and David Button helped England to the perfect start in the European Under-17 Championship in Italy this afternoon.
Defender Leigh, who enjoyed an impressive first campaign in our Academy and goalkeeper David, on the bench throughout our FA Youth Cup run, both played the full match as England beat Belarus 4-0 in their opening Group A fixture at Santa Croce sull'Arno, near Pisa.
England's goals came from West Ham's Hogan Ephraim (2), Charlton's Myles Weston and Joe Garner of Blackburn.
The Spurs pair are expected to line-up again in England's next group match against Turkey at Pontedera on Thursday.
The tournament consists of two groups of four teams with the top two of each qualifying for the semi-finals.
The finalists meet in Pontedero on May 14 and will then advance to the FIFA Under-17 World Championship in Peru from September 16 to October 2, along with the winner of the third-place play-off.
The European U17 Championship matches are being played in six towns near Pisa in Tuscany: Cascina, San Giuliano Terme, Santa Maria a Monte, Castelfranco di Sotto, Santa Croce sull'Arno and Pontedera.
