Perryman to return east

Posted on 6 June 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Steve Perryman is reported in Japan as being set to join J-League club Kashiwa Reysol as No. 2 to manager Akira Nishino, according to the Japanese media.

Reysol officials are reported as saying that Perryman, who coached Shimizu S-Pulse to the J-League second-stage title in 1999, will join Kashiwa in July and remain under contract until January 2002.

The former Spurs skipper and assistant manager left Shimizu last December after five years at the club, the first three as assistant to Ossie Ardiles, to return to England where he helped Exeter City avoid relegation from the third division.

He and Ardiles worked together at the Lane before resuming their managerial partnership in Japan. Ardiles lost his job as manager of Yokohama F Marinos last week.

Coming soon: An exclusive video series with Steve Perryman reflecting on his 19 years at the club.
