Jermain Defoe is looking forward to forming a partnership with Emmanuel Adebayor, a striker he says 'can do everything'.
The pair made the perfect start together in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Wolves in the Premier League.
Emmanuel marked his debut with the key opening goal in the 67th minute and JD buried the second goal 10 minutes from time to secure the points.
“I’m really looking forward to playing with Emmanuel,” said Jermain. “When there was speculation (about him joining) I was thinking ‘please make it happen’ because he’s a great player.
“He can do everything. He’s strong, can head it, great finisher. That freed me up a bit as well. I could drop deep, get on the ball and look to beat players as he stayed high up the pitch.”
JD has admitted to his frustration at a misfiring 2010-11 campaign but has insisted all along that he’s firing again this term.
“I’ve had a good pre-season and that sets you up for the season,” he added. “I feel great, really sharp. I’ll keep going, keep working and I know I’ll get my goals.”
