Academy striker Tomas Pekhart is preparing for the final of the FIFA U20 World Cup after the Czech Republic beat Austria in the semi-finals in Canada in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Tomas came off the bench to play the final half-hour in Edmonton as goals from Tomas Micola and Martin Fenin did the damage for the Czechs.
Signed last summer from Slavia Prague, Tomas, who scored an impressive 19 goals in 20 games for our Academy side last season, played a big part in the Czechs qualification for the last four when he scored the decisive penalty in a shoot-out against Spain in the quarter-finals.
They will now face either Chile or Argentina in the final in Toronto on Sunday.
"This was the biggest game I have ever played and I can say the same for a lot of my team-mates out there as well," said Tomas. "We played really well and I don't think it's really set in yet just how much this all means to our team and our whole nation."
