Paul Stalteri's dream of lifting the CONCACAF Gold Cup was ended by the USA in Chicago in the early hours of Friday morning.

Captaining his country in the CONCACAF's showcase tournament, Paul put in his fifth 90-minute stint in 15 days as the host nation ran out 2-1 winners in front of over 50,000 fans at Soldier Field.

There was controversy at the end of the encounter though as Atiba Hutchinson fired home what looked like an equalising goal in injury time only for it to be ruled out for offside.

Earlier, Frankie Hejduk and Landon Donovan put the US 2-0 up in the first half before Iain Hume reduced the deficit with 15 minutes remaining.

Meanwhile, former Spurs goalkeeper Kasey Keller played for the US and earned his 100th cap.
