Pat Holland says it would provide a huge boost for his under-18 side to play in front of a bumper crowd at White Hart Lane for the FA Youth Cup 5th round tie against Everton on Tuesday February 15, kick-off 7pm.
The lads won through to this stage by beating Nottingham Forst at home before going all the way to a penalty shootout in beating Liverpool at Anfield. It is now back to the Lane and Pat hopes the fans will turn out in force to support our Academy side.
"It makes a big difference, there was quite a big crowd at Liverpool supporting the home boys," reflected the coach. "It means a lot to the kids, especially if they are playing well and getting on top of the game - it does influence the way the game goes, as it does in first team games.
"It would be nice to get a few thousand in just to give the boys a good cheer."
We have a bit of recent previous against Everton. Our Youth Cup run of 2002 was de-railed at the semi-final stage by the Wayne Rooney inspired blues, while the under-17 play-off semi-final of last season went all the way to penalties at Spurs Lodge with Everton winning through.
"I think we've got a really difficult game coming up against Everton," added Pat. "They've got a good tradition in the Youth Cup and we've met them a couple of times recently in important games and, at the moment, it is 2-0 to them. Hopefully we can change that on the night.
"We've looked at the Everton side and it appears to be pretty much the same team. There will probably be one or two changes, as there is with us, but it will be the same format.
"It was a terrific game over here, fought well by both sides and it went to extra time and penalties. I think it will be a really good game to come and watch.
"Both sides will play 4-4-2, it will be an interesting one and it would be nice to see a decent crowd at the Lane."
Tickets for the game are priced at £3 adults, £1 concessions.
