Pat Holland was delighted with the response of his Under-18 side after the disappointment of last week's FA Youth Cup exit.
The lads bowed out of the competition at the semi-final stages against Ipswich Town on Wednesday night but were straight back to winning ways with a 3-0 victory against Charlton in the FA Premier Academy League on Saturday.
Charlie Lee bagged a brace from midfield with Claude Seanla grabbing the third.
"The lads were great," said Pat. "We let them enjoy training on Friday, gave them a little freedom, chose what they wanted to do - they would play eight-a-side matches all day if you let them!
"They benefited from that, enjoyed the Friday and felt right for Saturday. That was a fantastic result against a very good Charlton side and I couldn't be happier with how they responded."
