Villa had their chances for a share of the spoils but with Kasey Keller in fine form, went back to Birmingham without reward.
The German wing-back pointed out that the boot was on the other foot a number of times last term - especially early season against the likes of Everton, Villa, Liverpool, Chelsea and Leeds - and he'd be happy for us to take the three points in similar circumstances for the rest of the campaign.
Back from an ankle problem, Christian explained: "Last season we had a lot of games when we were the better team, played better football, had more chances and only drew or we lost the game late on or by the single goal.
"This time maybe Aston Villa created more than we did but we won and the positive thing is that we have the three points.
"If it goes like that for the whole season I'll be delighted with that."
Christian added that he was surprised that he was able to start with just a week's training under his belt.
He added: "I came back from Germany last Sunday, trained on Monday for the first time and had just one week of training.
"I was in a special boot for 10 days, that was difficult and my fitness level wasn't where it should be but I thought my performance was alright."
Christian Ziege was delighted how we stuck to our defensive guns to take all three points against Aston Villa.
