Dean Parrett secured a winning start for England in the first qualifying round of the European Under-19 Championship on Friday.

The young midfielder currently on loan at Aldershot struck England's final goal in injury time as the Three Lions beat Finland 3-1 at Murska Sobota in Slovenia.

Three of our four representatives were involved with Parrett starting alongside Ryan Mason. Mason went off after 54 minutes while Steven Caulker came on for Jacob Mellis just after the hour. Adam Smith was an unused substitute.

England's next game of three is against hosts Slovenia on Sunday.

The top two from the group progress to the Elite qualifying round next year.

Meanwhile, Danny Rose started as England Under-21s beat Macedonia 6-3 in European U21 Championship qualifying at Coventry's Ricoh Arena.

He was involved in the move leading to the opening goal scored by Kieron Gibbs in the first half and was eventually substituted after 69 minutes.
