Palace v Spurs - magic moment

Posted on 22 January 2016  - 11:32

Teddy Sheringham scored our first goal away to Palace in the Premier League era - but not our first at Selhurst Park!

That honour went to Nick Barmby, who slotted home in our 1-1 draw against Wimbledon - then sharing Palace's Selhurst Park home - on October 25, 1992.

However, Teddy remains the only Spur to score twice against the Eagles in a Premier League encounter with his double in a 3-1 victory on January 30, 1993.

The striker angled a fine finish into the top corner from Vinny Samways' cross to open the scoring, Andy Gray drilled home for 2-0 and Teddy then headed in from close range for 3-0 by half-time.

You can watch Teddy's opener at the top of the page!

Fredi Kanoute scored all three goals in a 3-0 FA Cup win in January, 2004, but you have to go back to November, 1980, and another hat-trick, this time from Garth Crooks, for the last Spur to score twice against Palace in league action before Teddy's double.
