The striker says he has been suffering with tonsilitis for some time and, with a two-week gap between Premiership engagements, it seemed the perfect time for a removal.
"I've been suffering from tonsilitis for the last year so I went in and had my tonsils out," he reported.
"It was a good time to do it and not interfere with any games. I was in and out and just a bit sore for a few days afterwards."
Plentyful jelly and ice cream was always the imagined childhood compensation for having this particular operation, but Bobby does not quite go along with this school of thought...
"It was a bit painful and I wouldn't really recommend just to eat jelly and ice cream!"
