Our captain fantastic was on the scoresheet as we ended a run of four successive defeats at Craven Cottage.
He later suggested that the criticism of the club in recent weeks had been somewhat harsh.
"First of all the three points were very important," he said. "We've had bit of a rough time.
"I thought we've been a little hard done by with all the criticism we got over the last week because I thought the boys played very well against Charlton. It was a harsh goal against us and we could have won three or four-nil.
"That's the way football goes. We knew we had to ride that out and I think we fully deserved to win. We've come out, worked hard, played well and deserved the three points."
It was just that little slice of luck that made all the difference - Teddy knew little of the glancing header that opened the scoring after Christian Ziege's free-kick deflected off the wall and into his path.
"We got a bit of luck," Teddy reflected. "I was just going in to get any rebound from the free-kick and it's come off my head and gone in.
"Those things haven't been happening for us. Having said that, I believe you make your own luck and you can't be too disappointed.
"Last week Charlton made their own luck and we've made our own luck this time. It all evens itself out by the end of the season of you deserve it."
