Our World Cup legend Ossie Ardiles can't wait for the action in South Africa to start. But he's also full of praise for the way our current squad lifted themselves to ensure a successful conclusion to last season.
In his exclusive monthly column in hotspur magazine, Ossie says that our crucial success at Eastlands "will live long in the memory." And he salutes the way in which Harry's men handled the pressure.
"It was a wonderful campaign, full of drama and excitement," he writes. "The players have done exactly what was asked of them, they didn't buckle...and now we have a new dawn to look forward to.
"There is always pressure in the game and I think this Spurs team can handle it."
Ossie points to the contribution of Gareth Bale, Michael Dawson, Heurelho Gomes, Tom Huddlestone "and the likes of David Bentley and Roman Pavlyuchenko who, like Bale, have taken their chances due to injuries." He continues: "It becomes difficult to pick the best 11 players - and that must be a fantastic problem for Harry Redknapp!"
