Spurs Player of the Season, 2002-03: Kasey Keller
Kasey Keller was the only player to appear in all 38 of Spurs Premiership matches in the 2002-03 campaign.
In that time the USA international made 148 saves, the second-highest tally in the Premiership behind fellow countryman Brad Friedel of Blackburn.
The 33-year-old averaged almost four saves per game and kept five clean sheets — the last of which came in Spurs’ 1-0 win at Aston Villa in mid-January.
Keller’s tall frame helped him catch 66 of the 72 crosses he tried to claim and on other occasions he managed to fist the ball clear 19 times.
With Lars Hirschfeld and Neil Sullivan waiting in the wings to take over if need be, Keller will need to maintain his form next season if he is to hold on to the number one jersey.
There is little doubt, however, that had it not been for his exceptional performances between the sticks this term, Spurs may well have conceded more than 62 goals in their 38 league outings.
