Reading actually led three times in the second half at 2-1, 3-2 and 4-3 but we hit back on every occasion before finally clinching victory with fifth and sixth goals.
"It was great entertainment and if you were impartial it would have been a magnificent game to watch," said Coppell.
"We were positive in trying to go forward and score goals.
"We scored four goals and had some great opportunities to add to that when they went to a back three.
"I must admit, at no stage on the three occasions when we went in front was I feeling confident or looking at the clock thinking 'we should be able to wind this down now'.
"But having got our noses in front three times some individual mistakes cost us."
Reading boss Steve Coppell blamed individual errors for his side's failure to take any reward from Saturday's 6-4 thriller at the Lane.
