The Northern Ireland international had to be at his best to turn away Mido's header after 75 minutes and was back on his feet seconds later to palm out Fredi Kanoute's shot.
Blues boss Bruce said: "Maik has played fantastically well recently, twice for Northern Ireland and now today when he has produced two world-class saves, one after the other.
"I think he has earned us a point but I think he would be the first to tell he owes the team a bit of that.
"He set high standards and he is back to those and we all know how good a keeper he is when on top form."
Steve Bruce reserved special praise for his goalkeeper Maik Taylor after his two late saves secured Birmingham a point in Saturday's 1-1 draw.
