Harry Rednapp was pleased to get back to winning ways after a difficult week for his Pompey side.

They lost 6-0 at Manchester City in the Premier League last weekend before a 4-0 home loss against Chelsea in the Carling Cup on Wednesday.

Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch bagged the goals that secured victory at Fratton Park on Sunday.

"It's great to get a win after a difficult week," said boss Redknapp.

"The Manchester City defeat was a one-off and all sides have off days.

"We needed this result and I was delighted how we went about it. There are occasions when everything goes wrong for you and that was one of those days.

"We've had two bad defeats but sometimes that happens and the most important thing is to get back as quickly as you can."
