Fulham's caretaker boss Ray Lewington conceded that his side gave us too much respect as we stormed to a 5-1 victory at the Lane on Boxing Day.

Robbie Keane and Tom Huddlestone put us in control 2-0 up at the break, Clint Dempsey gave Fulham hope at 2-1 on the hour but that lasted for little over 60 seconds as Keane struck again for 3-1. Huddlestone then volleyed home the goal of the game before providing Jermain Defoe with the chance to make it 5-1 in injury time.

"Everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong," mused Lewington. "We didn't produce a performance and we have to get it right.

"We didn't close down enough and let them play and when you face a side with the quality Spurs have, you will get punished.

"We're carrying around this horrible away record and it comes down to us being too nice. We've got decent players, but we have to get in people's faces as well."
