Opportunity knocks

David Button is determined to grasp his pre-season opportunity with both hands.

The young goalkeeper, 20, made his first team debut when he played the second half of Wednesday night's 3-0 friendly win against Exeter City.

Now David, who enjoyed loan spells at Grays, Luton, AFC Bournemouth and Dagenham & Redbridge last season, is after more of the same when he returns to Bournemouth for our friendly at Dean Court tonight (Friday, July 17).

"We were told before the Exeter game that we would be playing 45 minutes each," revealed the England youth international.

"I was a little nervous in the hotel before we left but once I got out there and warmed up I was fine and really looking forward to playing.

"It was great to keep a clean sheet and the team played really well as well and that made it all the easier for me. It was brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

"I want to take every opportunity that comes my way and try to do as well as I can.

"This is my opportunity and I have to grab it with both hands. I feel like I've grown as a player, I feel confident and I want to take it on from here."
