Simon Davies has undergone surgery to clear up continuing shin problems.
The Welsh international midfielder had the operation earlier today (Tuesday) in a bid to miss as little of the season as possible.
Our Head of Medical Services Dr Charlotte Cowie explained: "Simon has had three investigations in the last week, including two scans.
"He has had some shin pain for quite a while. We have been keeping control of it, but it hasn't really resolved the way we hoped it would over the close season.
"One of the tests showed the pressure within his calf has increased and he needed to see a surgeon because that pressure has caused the problems. It is better to get it done now while we are still in pre-season."
Head coach Jacques Santini stressed: "It was important for Simon to go ahead with the surgery. He is a key player for us and I hope to have him back in my plans as soon as possible."
