The England youth international put us 2-1 up during the first half, getting on the end of Anthony Georgiou’s right wing cross and finishing at the second time of asking after goalkeeper Andrew Fisher had saved his initial volley.
Ismail Azzaoui was responsible for our other three goals as we went on to win 4-1, with skipper Josh delighted with the team’s overall display.
“Our work ethic was great, we scored our first goal early and that was a good base that we built on from there,” said the midfielder.
“We played very well from the start and we kept the ball well up against a difficult side. We matched Blackburn physically and mentally and it paid off in the end.”
Describing his goal, the 17-year-old added: “It was good work from Kyle Walker-Peters dribbling down the right, which we know he’s good at, and then Anthony Georgiou took it off him and put in a good cross. It ended with me getting in the box and scoring so the move paid off.”
