I was born in Edmonton in July 1960, and all I can remember is being a Spurs fan.
I have no idea how, or why, I just am. Most people seem to have a "my dad" story, but I don't. I don't even remember my first game. Although, I do remember my friend's dad taking me and my mate to a game that I thought was a first team game, only to find out later that it was a reserve game.
That didn't bother me, just to be there was enough. But when I got home, my dad asked me how we got on, I told him we won 4-0 or something like that. To this day he thinks I took the money and spent it because, of course, Spurs first team were away that day, and got beat.
But I can just remember Greaves playing, I even followed West Ham for two weeks when he left. But really, Glenn Hoddle was who I grew up with. My first son's first words were 'Hoddle'. I have two dogs called Gazza and Hoddle.
I don't believe that there will ever come a time when Hoddle will be surpassed as an individual talent. Gazza, Beckham, whoever, they could not compete with this man.
I just wish there was a video of him, all his skills - if anybody knows of one, Id like to know. I have one from his Monaco days, but not the same.
Anyway, Spurs are part of my life, and even though I now live in Florida, I always plan my trips to London around the Spurs games. I went to two home games this last season, Leicester, and Leeds.
I think whatever happens in the near future, we'll see some great skill at last. Watch young Simon Davies, he reminds me of a young Gazza, I hope Hoddle works with him.
