Today a Spurs great was born, another legend struck twice to win an FA Cup tie and a modern-day legend fired home the winner in the Premier League at Elland Road...

ON THIS DAY – JANUARY 10

1918 – Les Bennett was born. Signed in May, 1939, he didn’t make his league debut until August, 1946 because of the Second World War. He went on to score 117 goals in 294 appearances, helping the team win the Second and First Division titles back-to-back in 1949-50 and 1950-51.

1948 – Len Duquemin struck twice in extra time as we secured a 2-0 win at Bolton in the third round of the FA Cup. We went on to reach the semi-finals in that 1947-48 season where despite another goal from Len – one of his 134 for us - we lost 3-1 against Blackpool.

2004 – Robbie Keane hit the winner against his former club Leeds United as we won 1-0 at Elland Road, halting a run of four-successive away defeats. Keano latched onto Mauricio Taricco’s free-kick to slot past Paul Robinson, who would soon join him at the Lane.
