The Danish playmaker described it as an ‘intense’ experience as he watched us come through a tough test with flying colours as Harry Kane grabbed a hat-trick in the 3-0 win in Cyprus.
Christian - who started 45 of our 53 matches last season and eight out of 10 this time around – missed out on our second game in Group H through illness. He recovered in time to take his place in the team for our 3-0 win at Huddersfield on Saturday.
However, for APOEL, he had to kick every ball from the couch.
“It all happened on Monday morning,” explained Christian. “I had a bad stomach and stayed in bed for the rest of Monday.
“Of course, I was a bit nervous then watching the game on Tuesday.
“It was intense. I’m used to being in the team and being involved and you don’t really see what it’s like from the outside.
“You can’t do a thing to help. You can’t affect anything. You can shout but that doesn’t help in any way! Before we scored the first goal I was a little nervous but after that it was fine. I was clapping when we scored!
“I was living in the game watching and following it as best as possible, all on the couch!
