The Spurs team-mates both played the full 90 minutes at Old Trafford as Moussa Konate hit that 82nd-minute equaliser to cancel out Craig Bellamy's opener.

Uruguay top Group A after beating UAE 2-1, also at Old Trafford.

Sandro played 78 minutes as highly-fancied Brazil held off a spirited comeback from Egypt to win their opener 3-2 at the Millennium Stadium.

They raced into a 3-0 lead by half-time with goals from Rafael, Leandro Damiao and Neymar, only for Egypt to hit back with goals in the 52nd and 76th minutes. Brazil top Group C on goal difference from Belarus.

Giovani dos Santos came on as a 66th-minute substitute as Mexico drew 0-0 against South Korea in their opener in Group B. Gabon and Switzerland also drew.

All four Spurs players return to action on Sunday - GB take on UAE at Wembley, Brazil face Belarus at Old Trafford and Mexico take on Gabon in Coventry.
