There is no doubt Scott Parker will be an England international for many years to come.
True there is a good deal of competition but with new arrival Parker in the form of his life, few can doubt his claim to a regular place in the current Three Lions side.
Yet one interesting statistic in Parker’s career file is the unique fact that he won his first four England caps while playing for four different clubs.
It shows how Scott has grown in stature from an international perspective. Any doubts about his pedigree are long gone as he sets his sights on upping his appearances tally from the meagre eight caps that he currently holds.
However, Parker is a man who knows that good club form is the only springboard to the England squad. And from that perspective, Harry Redknapp’s side will be the main beneficiary.
In the October issue of Hotspur magazine, Parker agrees that playing alongside the talents of Luka Modric will enhance his own development even more.
“I’ve been looking forward to that,” agrees Scott. “He has always been one of the most difficult opponents I’ve played against.
“Top four? Why not? I look at the quality here and there’s no doubt that we should be challenging. I am at an important stage in my career and feel that I can establish myself at this fantastic club.”

Parker’s fellow new signing Emmanuel Adebayor is also featured and is confident that the belief Redknapp has already shown in him will lift him to an even higher level.
“I’m at a club where everyone has confidence in me, everyone trusts me, everyone knows what I am capable of doing, which is important for me,” he says. “Now it’s up to me to show them that they are not wrong.”
