Mauricio Pochettino was delighted with the two sides of the team on show in a convincing win at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.

The foundations for the 3-0 victory were without question laid in the first half as we raced into the lead through Dele Alli inside two minutes and doubled it on the half-hour after Harry Kane buried from the penalty spot.

We had 15 shots at goal in that first period to Norwich City’s four and struck the woodwork twice.

As expected, Norwich hit back after the break but we played a containing game, kept the home team at bay – but for a disallowed goal from Sebastien Bassong – and then sprung late on, first seeing Harry strike the post before the front man made it 15 goals in his last 18 games with a late third.

“It was an excellent performance, I’m very pleased,” said Mauricio. “The effort was fantastic.

“The early goal helped us and in the end we deserved the result and we need to feel proud of the players for the job they did. The performance was fantastic from the beginning.”

Mauricio on the plan to start quickly…
“In football you always need to show you want to win from the beginning. This was our plan, to be aggressive from the first ball and after that, the team showed maturity and consistency. We are still very young but in the way we improve I think we need to feel proud.”

Mauricio on the containing performance in the second half…
“Sometimes you need to play a different way in the same game. It’s true, the clean sheet was very important for us and the way we played the second half was fantastic. It’s important to show the maturity that the team showed today.”

Mauricio on Dele, replaced at half-time feeling ill…
“He was a little dizzy, he felt unwell and with advice from the doctor we took the decision to substitute him for Nacer Chadli. It’s always better not to take a risk but now he feels much better. It’s not a serious problem.”
