Jermaine Jenas believes we are showing our true colours during a run of form that has seen us stretch an unbeaten league run to six games.
We beat title-chasing Chelsea in the latest of these, and the midfielder feels confidence in the squad is as high as ever.
JJ is reflecting during the current international break, which he insists was vital to go into on the back of such impressive performances.
"I think we're showing the quality we have within the squad at the moment, and we really should be in the top half with the players we have," he said.
"We're quick on the break, we've got pace everywhere, and everyone's looking to get forward and get goals at the moment.
"The mood is very high at the moment, and what better way to go into a break than by beating a top side like Chelsea.
"It's been a fantastic few weeks, and since the Carling Cup Final, I don't think you can praise the lads enough for the attitude towards every game and training session."
Once the international break is out of the way, it's back to business with a tough trip to face Blackburn at Ewood Park on Saturday week.
And Jermaine is determined for us to keep in the hunt for that final European spot and not let our campaign fizzle out.
"We've got the bit between our teeth and want to keep going, because it's a great feeling when you're winning and a habit we want to continue.
"Last year our form tailed off towards the end of the season, and perhaps that did affect us a bit this season.
"But we've got a top squad and all we want to do is win games, so the mentality is good at the moment."
