FA PREMIER ACADEMY LEAGUE
Arsenal U17s 1-1 Spurs
Our young Under-17 side looked set for a win in the wind at London Colney before a freak goal handed Arsenal a share of the spoils.
Michael Malcolm rose well to head home Marcel McKie's cross to give Jimmy Neighbour's lads a deserved 1-0 lead at the interval. Playing with the wind in that half, they also hit the woodwork through Mario Noto.
The Gunners hit back after the break but we defended well under pressure until a shot from the edge of the box was deflected high into the air and ballooned home on the wind.
"We played well and we were unlucky in the end," said Jimmy. "It was the classic game of two halves. We had the wind in the first half, attacked well and created plenty of chances. It was a good goal as well, Marcel got across the goalkeeper well.
"We knew they would come back into it in the second half but we defended it superbly and we still wanted to go forward and create chances.
"Their goal came from no-where and was a bit unfortunate for us. The Under-19s were called off but we stuck with the schoolboys and they did themselves proud."
Spurs U17s: Rutherford, Perry (Watson, 45), Dobson, Barnett, Foster, Tyrie, Noto, Black, Malcolm, Yeates (Ford, 75), McKie (Price, 75). Unused: Hicks, Eyre.
