Lee Barnard grabbed a second-successive hat-trick in the 4-3 win at Stevenage with Michael Malcolm chipping in with the fourth goal as we went from 1-0 down after eight minutes to 4-1 up.
"For me, the first half performance was as good as it has been this season," stated a delighted coach Clive. "I'm talking about the way we closed them down, the way we worked hard to win the ball and then the quality we showed when we had it.
"I thought we were very unfortunate to fall behind but the lads showed what they've got and what they are capable of.
"We discussed the game we played against Arsenal at Barnet earlier in the season and we didn't do too much wrong that night apart from make individual mistakes that cost us dearly.
"I just felt if we went about the game in the right way and showed what we're capable of when we had the ball we could do something. The players did that and to do it in this game, against a very good Arsenal side and in front of a big crowd was very positive. It was a great result for us."
Clive Allen was left in little doubt as to the quality of his reserve side's performance in beating Arsenal on Monday night.
