New lads, photocall...and a zebra

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

NOW there's something you don't see every day...

As the lads started to gather for the annual photocall, a zebra suddenly came into view across Spurs Lodge.

Yes, a zebra.

And it looked like it was moving pretty freely across the top pitch at the training ground from Xtra's somewhat-obstructed office view about 100 metres away.

You can imagine that view - but it was quickly explained that a full-scale model had been carried across the pitch!

The model was brought in by this season's domestic cup and Champions League shirt sponsor Investec to stand proudly alongside their official group photograph - the zebra is the international specialist bank and asset manager's logo.

THURSDAY was a special day as, not only did we see a zebra for the first time at the Lodge, but it was also the first day's training for our new arrivals Rafael van der Vaart, Sandro and Stipe Pletikosa.

They were joined by our fourth summer capture William Gallas as all four trained together for the first time.

After warming-up, the squad - back together after the international break - loosened up with some ball work before going straight into a full-sided match on the main pitch at the training ground.
