New deals for youngsters

Sam Cox and Steven Caulker have signed their first professional contracts at the Club.

Versatile defender/midfielder Sam started 22 of his 24 matches for our Under-18s last season and made two substitute appearances for the reserves. He now moves from a Second Year Academy player into our Development Squad.

Central defender Steven featured in 31 of the Academy's 34 matches as a First Year Academy player last term and made five appearances for the reserves, starting three.

Young goalkeeper Lee Butcher, who enjoyed successful loan spells at Grays and St Albans last season, has also signed a new one-year contract.

We are also pleased to announce the signing of young defender Anton Blackwood from Arsenal.

Formerly with Northampton Town, Anton featured in 12 games as the Gunners won the 'double' of Premier Academy League and FA Youth Cup last season.

Our pictures show Steven, Sam and Lee with manager Harry Redknapp below and, right, Anton with Academy Manager John McDermott.
