Academy graduate Jamie O'Hara has marked his considerable progress and return to pre-season training with the signing of a contract extension at the Club.

The 19-year-old central midfielder, who turned professional in September 2004, spent the second half of last season on loan at League One side Chesterfield where he made 19 appearances, scoring five goals in what was an impressive introduction to League football.

Other Reserve/Academy contract extensions completed over the close season so far have been midfielder Charlie Daniels, goalkeeper Robert Burch, striker Simon Dawkins and full-back Chris Riley.

Left-sided midfielder Daniels, also 19, showed great versatility over the course of the season by occupying the left-back position on many occasions for Clive Allen’s Reserve side, where he made a total of 16 appearances before suffering an injury that forced him out of the closing stages.

Burch is well on his way to recovery after suffering a broken leg late in the Play-Off Final against Manchester United, having made 13 appearances over the course of the season. Dawkins, now entering his third season of full-time football at the Club, made nine appearances for our Championship winning reserve side in addition to his Under-18 duties. Riley, who played five times for the reserves last season including the play-off final at Old Trafford, has also been rewared with a professional contract.

Joining our Academy on First Year Scholarships are Terry Dixon, Kyle Fraser-Allen, Daniel Hutchins, David Hutton, Jake Livermore and Takura Mtandari.
