Neil's our No1

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

While it was hardly in doubt - and that's why we announced it in the club's final matchday programme against Manchester United - we can confirm that Neil Sullivan is the Official Spurs Website's Player of the Season.

You could call it a landslide victory for our outstanding goalkeeper after he polled a massive 1,861 of the total 2,237 votes cast.

'Sully' has been outstanding all season and many observers, not least those who have watched all his performances, were disappointed that he was not named in the PFA Team of the Season. That honour went to United's Fabien Barthez.

His coach Hans Segers described Sully's display against Arsenal in the 1-1 draw in December as the best in the Premiership all season and for a goalkeeping masterclass, you could do worse than study all of our clashes against the Gunners last season.

Gary Doherty's magnificent second half of the season earned him enough votes to finish second. Big 'Doc' scored vital goals, impressed in both defensive and attacking roles and is now a regular in Mick McCarthy's Republic of Ireland squad.

Stephen Carr, whose fine season was cruelly cut by injury, finished third overall with Sol Campbell fourth and Sergei Rebrov fifth.

Here is how the fans voted:

Neil Sullivan 1,861

Gary Doherty 112

Stephen Carr 106

Sol Campbell 36

Sergei Rebrov 28

Simon Davies, Ledley King both 24

Stephen Clemence 22

Anthony Gardner, Alton Thelwell both 12

Thanks to all of you who took the time to vote.
