Noureddine Naybet describes the positive beginning to the season as 'a good starting point for the players and club'.
The veteran centre half is experienced enough not to get carried away at such an early stage of the campaign, but he acknowledges that the players have clicked and do have a platform to build on in the coming months.
"We have defended very well so far and we have connected in some way," said the Moroccan international. "What we have to do is work from the last four games, we haven't lost and that is a good starting point for the players and club.
"We have to understand each other even more on the field, the movement of players and tactics."
One player he already appeared to have an understanding with is his central defensive partner Ledley King - a player he admires, although he plays down the theory that he himself is helping to bring on the younger defender's game.
"Ledley is already proven himself a good defender and no-one can take that away from him. He will get better and better, but he has great quality and it is no surprise that his game is going up and up all the time.
"I'm just like any other defender - maybe just with a little experience."
Ledley himself confirms that he is also suitably impressed with his new defensive cohort, adding that his experience is of benefit to him.
"He is great, he has so much experience and he is helping me as much as I'm helping him - he is good to work with," said Ledley, who insists that language is not proving to be a barrier.
"He can say enough and as long as he can communicate on the pitch that is good enough.
"I am trying to help him and, hopefully, if we work on the training ground we can improve."
