We meet the Foxes in the FA Cup third round at White Hart Lane on Sunday in the first of two consecutive home games against them in quick succession.
Leicester’s impressive domestic campaign, which sees them currently occupying second spot, just two points off the top of the table, certainly hasn’t escaped Nacer’s notice, but the Belgian international is confident that we can see off the challenge of Claudio Ranieri’s side on our own patch as we bid to make progress on all fronts.
“The FA Cup is very important for the club and for the whole squad,” he said. “We’re playing Leicester two times in just a few days so it’s a tricky one, but I think it’s good because we’ve got two home games with our fans right behind us and it will be a good atmosphere.
“Leicester are doing very well this year, you can see they have good quality players but we have a strong squad, we’re playing at home and we can beat anyone at home.
“I think the FA Cup is a good competition and we have to try to win it this year. Obviously we have to win this weekend to go through, but it’s very important for the confidence of the group to keep playing in the FA Cup so we will do our best.”
Since returning from an injury lay-off, Nacer has made a series of substitute appearances for us but, needless to say, he’s hoping for a chance to make a bigger contribution against the Foxes over the next few days.
“The team is doing very well and I’m very pleased with that because I want to be part of a strong team,” he said. “This is a big club, we have a lot of good players but there are a lot of games coming soon so hopefully I will get some more game time.”
