Nabil positive after friendly victories

Posted on 23 July 2015  - 11:30

Nabil Bentaleb feels the players are reaping the benefits of three tough behind-closed-doors friendlies so far this summer.

Southend, Reading and Brentford have all pushed us all the way at Hotspur Way with the latest test a 2-1 win against Championship side Brentford on Wednesday.

Southend were put to the sword 4-0 in the first match on July 11 before we toppled Reading 1-0 on Saturday.

Nabil, who struck a fine goal against Southend, impressed again against the Bees and was denied a fine solo goal by the woodwork as penalties from Shaq Coulthirst and Dele Alli saw us home.

“We’ve played three games now, we’ve played some good football and we’re getting fitter and fitter as we get ever closer to the start of the season,” said Nabil, outstanding in central midfield last season.

“The teams we’ve played all wanted to prove something against us, they wanted to beat us and that makes it tough.”
